Ellen Holbrook is a Marketing and Business Strategy Consultant and Producer in the San Francisco Bay Area with a background in consumer products, entertainment, interactive media, toys, games, *edutainment* and consumer software (online and offline) for both kids and adults.

Holbrook received her BA from Northwestern and her MBA from Harvard Business School. But don't let those degrees fool you. She also studied improvisational comedy at Chicago's famous Second City Theatre, where many cast-members from Saturday Night Live got started. In the 80's, she founded ImprovBoston, Boston's oldest and most acclaimed improvisational comedy troupe, which is still alive and going strong. There she served as Producer, Writer/Performer, and Board Chairman, and also co-chaired the Boston Resident Theatre Alliance.

After graduating from business school, she moved to Los Angeles and worked for entertainment companies such as Brillstein-Grey and National Lampoon. She also continued to produce improv and theatrical comedies. Later, she transferred her skills to the toy industry, with stints at both Mattel and Hasbro, where she marketed and grew famous toy brands such as Mr. Potato Head, Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, and See 'n Say.

For the past several years, Holbrook has been a Marketing Executive and/or Consultant for various companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, including stints as V.P. of Marketing at  The Learning Company (Mattel Interactive), and as Head of Marketing for Berkeley Systems.  She is currently an independent marketing and business strategy consultant.  (See Consulting Services).

More recently, Holbrook served as a Marketing Consultant to CMP Game Group, the Producers of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) at San Francisco's Moscone Center. They are a division of United Business Media, Inc.  GDC 2007 was the largest industry-only (B-to-B) game industry event ever, bringing together over 1200 game developers and game industry executives from all over the world, and exceeded all previous attendance records! Holbrook's comedy video short, "Socko Sings," premiered at San Francisco Indie Fest's Digital Underground Fest" in July 2001, and won the "Best of Festival" award (for Commercials) at the Berkeley Video and Film Festival in December 2001.

Holbrook has completed over 25 Marathons, Ultra-Marathons and various Triathlons.
